An off-dry white wine is a wine that has a slight sweetness due to residual sugar, which is unfermented grape sugars left in the wine:
Residual sugar: The amount of glucose and fructose (grape sugars) that remain after fermentation. Residual sugar is usually measured in grams per liter.
- Off-dry: Wines with a residual sugar content of 0.6–1.4% are considered off-dry.
- Semi-dry: Wines with a residual sugar content of 1.5–3% are considered semi-dry.
