The Chef's Kitchen Series is a tri-weekly cooking presentation (not hands-on cooking classes) hosted by Executive Chef Matt Sciabarrasi.  Chef Matt has been the culinary super-star at J's Restaurant for 10 incredible years.

This year we are offering our classes with two options.

  1. VIP.  Preferred reserved seating next to the Chef Matt.  Welcome Mimosa.  Tasting of the Chef's Presentation Menu.  A glass of wine selected by our Winemaker Justin Pelletier pair with the Presentation Menu.  $50.00
  2. Reservation only "Just Watch".  No Charge.  Wine and food offered al la carte.  Seating first come first serve.

Welcome to an exhilarating and immersive experience where we unlock the art and magic of wine pairing! In this dynamic demonstration, we will take you on a sensory journey through the world of wines—understanding how to complement or contrast the flavors of the wines with the dishes we serve. The true beauty of wine pairing lies in its ability to elevate food, creating a symphony of flavors that dance on your palate.

We’ll begin with the fundamentals—how to taste wine like an expert. You’ll learn the proper techniques to fully appreciate the wine’s appearance, aroma, and taste, engaging all your senses in a harmonious exploration of its complexities. We’ll discuss the importance of aromatics, how the nose can reveal layers of flavor, and why those delicate notes in the wine are just as crucial as its taste.

But the heart of this demonstration is pairing wine with food. Should you complement the flavors or choose a contrast? Does the richness of a red wine enhance the flavors of a savory dish, or is it the acidity of a crisp white that cuts through the richness of a creamy dish? Together, we’ll explore these questions as we dive into traditional food pairings, from the finest cheeses to exquisite charcuterie and regional French dishes. Each pairing will be a revelation, an opportunity to taste, savor, and discover how wine can transform the dining experience.

By the end of this session, you’ll have the knowledge, skills, and passion to confidently pair wines with any dish, creating unforgettable meals where every sip and bite harmonize perfectly. It’s time to awaken your inner sommelier!
